Embedded Electronics Engineering student ambassador Wenqian
Introducing Wenqian
Hi! My name is Wenqian and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's Programme in Embedded Electronics Engineering. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, life in Lund and Sweden. Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships or residence permits.
My experience so far
During my last year in college, I was planning to continue my studies in electronics, and I chose this programme at Lund. Firstly, I found it so wonderful to get the opportunity to accomplish a system in a small chip; secondly, the courses and projects are connected to the industry and there are great opportunities for students to fabricate our own chips; and last but not least, Lund is such a beautiful and pleasant city to study and live!
I have now been in Lund for almost one year, and life here is impressive. Although I spent most of my time in the labs and on projects due to the fact that we have lab work in every course, I enjoyed the feeling of realising and completing some ideas as well as the satisfaction of learning a lot. Working with partners is also very common here, so my communication and cooperation skills have improved too. In terms of living here, I have it since the beginning; the easy way of life suits my personality. Also, I found that the winter is not that hard, owing much to my interests and the company of friends.
There is one thing I wish I had known before going to Sweden. If you plan to stay in Sweden for a longer time and have free time, learning Swedish would be helpful and meaningful. For example, sometimes it will be a bonus when you are looking for an internship. Although it is not compulsory and English is so common here, if you do learn the language, it will bring you more opportunities.
