What Rostyslav says about the Master's in Service Management, Supply Chain Management
Introducing Rostyslav
Hi! My name is Rostyslav and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Service Management, Supply Chain Management. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.
Why did you choose Lund University?
"First and foremost, the MSc in Service Management with a specialisation in Supply Chain Management aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and passion for transport. This made it a clear and straightforward choice for me. Additionally, Lund University’s international recognition and high global rankings, combined with its rich history of success and outstanding achievements strongly influenced my decision. During my undergraduate studies, several friends shared their positive experiences at Lund, highlighting the exceptional quality of education. Together, these factors solidified my determination to study here."
What are you first impressions of your programme? Does it meet your expectations?
"When I enrolled, I envisioned the programme in terms of its schedule, courses, and content. Now, I can confidently say that my expectations align with reality. The standout feature of the programme is its focus on studying Logistics and Transport Management from a service-oriented perspective. This approach not only involves managing the flow of goods and services but also emphasises close collaboration with people."
What have been the highlights of your first months in Lund?
"Indubitably, I was deeply impressed by the extensive structure of the university and the vibrant student life, which stands in stark contrast to my previous academic experience. There’s always something happening in Lund, ensuring that you never feel bored or isolated. Another important aspect is the student nations and thematic student activities, which, in my view, have been instrumental in helping me integrate into the Swedish environment, connect with like-minded individuals, and enjoy meaningful, high-quality experiences together.
What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?
"Swedish universities are known for promoting a strong work-life balance, a principle I personally value and endorse. Having learned about the unique teaching style, I felt calm and confident that I would be able to navigate my studies smoothly and without significant challenges. Regarding the schedule, the monthly course structure has its pros and cons. On the one hand, it allows you to fully concentrate on a specific subject without dividing your attention. On the other hand, having final exams at the end of each month demands that you stay consistently organised and keep up with the pace, which can be particularly challenging if you’re also doing internships or working. However, I believe this approach fosters resilience and helps you develop the ability to plan your routine effectively."
How international is your programme?
"My programme comprises individuals from all over the world. We are a highly international group with a diverse mix of students from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa. A significant portion of the students come from China, which is particularly fascinating for me as someone born in Europe. Through studying together and collaborating on various team projects, we share and exchange knowledge, work effectively in teams, and explore one another's national cultures and traditions."
What are you most looking forward to in your programme?
"I firmly believe that any country's impactful development stems from several well-designed approaches crafted by professional experts. Aspiring to be one of them, I am committed to contributing to my nation's development by joining the Ministry of Infrastructure or Ukrainian Railways after graduation, where I can apply my enhanced skills and experiences to reform the service sector and overcome war-related challenges. It would be another important learning opportunity as I prepare to become a dedicated leader who will bring my country to sustainable growth and prosperity. Thus, I see the MSc in Service Management, specialising in Supply Chain Management as a crucial step. It will empower me to innovate in the transport industry and build stable bridges between states, addressing actual needs and responding to global challenges."
Stay tuned! A more comprehensive testimonial from this student will be published once they have completed their first semester at Lund and have more insights to share about their programme.
