Jobs are posted on an ongoing basis by the different departments at Lund University. Vacancies include PhD positions as well as positions for researchers, postdoctoral fellows, lecturers, professors, other academic staff and technical and administrative staff. Many of our vacancies are advertised in English: being able to speak Swedish is not necessarily a prerequisite.

Log in or create an account in our recruitment system

Once you have found a position that you wish to apply for, please log in to our recruitment system to apply. Lund University uses the Varbi recruitment system for all recruitments.

To apply for a position, you must create an account in the recruitment system. Your complete application must be received by 23:59 (Swedish time) on the last day of application.

If you cannot remember your password, click Forgotten your password? under Login. A new password will be sent to your email address.

Your application must be submitted by 23:59 on the last day of application, at which time the vacancy announcement will be removed from the list of vacancies. If you have submitted an application, you can access the vacancy announcement in the recruitment system even after the application deadline has passed.

On submitting your application, a confirmation will be sent to your email address.

Applications through Varbi

To apply for a position, click the Login and apply button in the vacancy announcement. This will take you to the Varbi recruitment system. Once you have created an account and logged in, fill in the application, answer any questions and upload your attachments. 

Note that your CV can be up to 10 MB and must be submitted in one of the following formats: .pdf, .txt, .rtf, .doc or .docx.

Wait to submit or update your application

You may choose to save your application and continue to work on it at a later time. Remember to click Submit application when you are done.

Submitted applications can be updated until 23:59 (Swedish time) on the last day of application.

Recruitment process

All submitted applications will be reviewed after the application deadline. We will subsequently select a small number of applicants for an interview. The selection is based on the criteria stated in the vacancy announcement.

Those who best fulfil the criteria will be called to an interview, after which we will contact the applicants’ references. We may also conduct additional in-depth interviews or tests.

When a position has been filled, we will contact all applicants via telephone or email.

Appealing an employment decision

If you have applied for a position at Lund University that has been filled by another applicant, you can appeal the decision.

An appeal must be received by the University within three weeks of the date on which the employment decision was posted on the University notice board at Sandgatan 3 (university administration) in Lund.

Note that employment decisions for doctoral positions cannot be appealed.

You should clearly state:

  • which decision you are appealing (e.g. by indicating the reference number)
  • how you would like the decision to be changed.
