Global collaboration
Lund University collaborates and cooperates with top universities all over the world through international networks, programmes and platforms. Below we present some of our larger, university-wide collaborations.
Universitas 21 (U21)
Universitas 21 is a global network consisting of 29 research-intensive, comprehensive and outstanding universities in 19 countries.
The aim of the network is to provide a platform to facilitate collaboration, nurture global knowledge exchange and share best practice. The programmes and initiatives of U21 are divided into three strategic areas:
- Student Experience
- Researcher Engagement and
- Educational Innovation.
In that sense, the target group for U21 is broad and includes students, researchers and administrative staff, among others.
Scholars at Risk (SAR)
Lund University works to be able to receive threatened researchers.
Lund University has been a member of SAR since 2014. SAR is a network of more than 500 member institutions in 42 countries that works to help threatened researchers and promote academic freedom worldwide. This sits well with Lund University’s values of human rights, respect, tolerance and speaking out against injustice.
We have for example organised a lecture on the theme of threatened researchers and participate in the network's various events, such as conferences and fairs, both nationally and internationally.
The University also plays an active role in building up a Swedish network and acts as support for new Swedish member universities.
Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) – outside Europe
The ICM-programme provides opportunities for collaboration and exchange between Lund University and so-called partner countries (countries outside the EU/EES that participate in certain parts of the Erasmus+ programme).
A bilateral agreement forms the basis for student and teacher exchanges, who can receive mobility grants.
Teaching staff at higher education institutions are given the opportunity to teach at a higher education institution in a partner country. Both teaching and non-teaching staff are given the opportunity to conduct job shadowing or undertake other forms of skills exchange.
Students att all levels can study or do an internship of between 2 to 12 months in another country. Short-term PhD mobility (between 5 and 30 days) and mixed mobility are also possible.
