There are several ways to find great student accommodation in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg.

How to find housing

Unless you are a student with a housing guarantee (read more below), you are responsible for finding your own housing. We strongly recommend that you have your accommodation sorted out before your arrival, as many students are looking for housing at the start of the semester. We recommend that you apply for accommodation through several different agencies and that you are very active in your search for housing.

LU Accommodation and the housing guarantee

To find somewhere to live in Lund, Malmö or Helsingborg, most international students apply through LU Accommodation (a part of Student Services at Lund University). Even though several international student groups can get a housing offer from LU Accommodation, students with a housing guarantee are the only group of students guaranteed housing through LU Accommodation. The housing guarantee is offered to certain international student groups – visit the link below to find out more. Note that you must still apply for housing according to LU Accommodation's instructions. If you don't have a guarantee, we therefore strongly recommend that you apply through other accommodation agencies.

Other accommodation agencies

Other accommodation agencies include the Student Unions' housing service BoPoolen.nu and AF Bostäder, which is the largest provider of student accommodation in Lund with approximately 6,000 rooms and apartments. In addition, several different private agencies are available in Lund and the other campus cities. Students may also find housing through the student nations.

Housing types and locations

The University departments are spread throughout the city; accordingly, Lund University does not have a particular campus area. Getting around in Lund is easy, whether on foot, by bike or by bus. If you choose to live in Malmö or Helsingborg, there are regular trains and buses making it easy to commute to Lund. When applying for housing we encourage you to search for housing within as well as around the cities where our campuses are located the distances are not far and you can easily commute from places such as Malmö, Eslöv, Kävlinge, Åkarp, Staffanstorp, Landskrona and Helsingborg.

Lund University does not own or run any dorm rooms or other types of student accommodation. However, we do provide services through agencies, such as LU Accommodation that offer housing contracts to certain international student groups. If you rent a room from LU Accommodation, the most common form of student accommodation is a corridor room. Students also find housing in shared apartments, rooms, studio flats or corridor rooms in or around the cities of Lund, Malmö or Helsingborg.

Beware of fraudsters and housing scams

Unfortunately, there have been cases where scammers take advantage of the housing situation by defrauding housing applicants. Before you pay any deposits or rent to private landlords, please read BoPoolen's recommendations on how to avoid fraudsters.
