Innovation support services at the University

The University's innovation activities are centred on using knowledge to improve our world and the human condition. Together with researchers and students, we develop ideas and research findings into innovations. In their turn, these solve serious problems and create value.

LU Innovation

The University's innovation office, LU Innovation, helps students and researchers from all faculties at Lund University to transform ideas and research findings into new products, services or methods.

LU Innovation can help to ensure that research and knowledge are brought into society, by offering

  • free idea and innovation development
  • advice on patents and legal issues, and
  • assistance with funding at different project stages.

The innovation office collaborates with other stakeholders both regionally and internationally. These for example include incubators, financiers and industry networks.

LU Ventures

LU Ventures AB helps researchers build startups to transform discoveries into new products and services. The company is owned by the Swedish state but is managed by Lund University. Its portfolio includes companies that have collectively created more than 8,300 full-time jobs and raised more than SEK 11.8 billion in venture capital. 

LU Ventures and LU Innovation work side by side and together form the innovation support at Lund University.

Collaboration projects and innovation programmes

LU Innovation manages a range of projects and innovation programmes in collaboration with other stakeholders. One example is Innovationskontor Syd, which is a collaborative project between the universities in southern Sweden. Another example is Swelife, a strategic innovation programme funded by Vinnova and coordinated by LU Innovation.
