What Shreeya says about the Master's in Data Analytics and Business Economics
Introducing Shreeya
Hi! My name is Shreeya and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Data Analytics and Business Economics. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.
Why did you choose Lund University?
"Lund University became my top choice in Sweden due to several factors. Firstly, the Data Analytics and Business Economics degree provided an amazing opportunity to transition from a business background into the realm of data science, which perfectly aligned with my academic interest. The second crucial factor was this city, which is known for its diversity and safety. I loved what Lund had to offer despite being a small city."
What are your first impressions of your programme? Does it meet your expectations?
"It is challenging, but Sweden’s education practices, allow you to plan your time yourself. Nevertheless, it provides an amazing opportunity to dive deeper into the world of data analytics and think from a business perspective. It does meet my expectations in regards to learning more about data, getting useful information from it and making data-driven decisions."
What have been the highlights of your first months in Lund?
"I have really enjoyed meeting people from diverse backgrounds. In my class, we have people from more than 35 countries and a variety of educational backgrounds. Such cultural and knowledge exchange has already helped me grow on many levels. I also enjoy Lund as a city. It is quiet and safe, at the same time, it offers diverse cuisine and plenty of options to mingle with people so you don’t feel too lonely away from home."
What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?
"Sweden has a very different teaching style compared to what I am used to being from South Asia. It is more focused on independent thinking. It is more about facilitating so that we can create our own learning paths. It does take some time to get used to it."
How international is your programme?
"The Master’s in Data Analytics and Business Economics programme is very diverse. There are more international students than Swedish students which allows me to learn from people from different countries and backgrounds. We probably have students from 35+ countries and 5 continents."
What are you most looking forward to in your programme?
"I am excited to improve my programming skills and grow more in the domain. There are very interesting subjects that we get to learn in this one-year programme. I hope to enjoy the experience each day and see where I can implement this in future."
Stay tuned! A more comprehensive testimonial from this student will be published once they have completed their first semester at Lund and have more insights to share about their programme.
