What Amanda says about the Master's in Strategic Communication
Amanda from Norway
Why did you choose to study the Master’s programme in Strategic Communication at Lund University?
"I chose to study the Master's programme in Strategic Communication because of the good reputation of Lund University. Also, when I started to apply for Master’s degrees, they did not have a Master’s in strategic communication in my home country, Norway. Therefore, this was a good fit. Moreover, the opportunity to do an internship made it more beneficial for my needs. As I already have a theoretical background, I want practical experience, which this Master's can provide me."
What is the best part of this programme and why?
"The best part of this programme is how interactive the courses are. You get an opportunity to get to know people from all around the world. There are around twenty different nationalities in my class, which is a good experience to have. Likewise, there is a lot of group work where you have interesting discussions with people from different backgrounds. This makes the courses more interesting!"
In what way have your studies changed how you look upon communication?
"Previously, my studies were focused on different media theories, so I had a very theoretical background. Communication is a natural part of everyday life, but I find it especially interesting to see how this functions in the corporate world. It is a very interesting and holistic field with many different branches, so you have many opportunities."
What are your future dreams?
"After my graduation, I want to gain different practical experiences in different fields within communication so I can figure out what I want to do. In other words, I do not have any specific dreams yet. I will do my internship next semester so hopefully it will be clearer! This programme really gives you many opportunities."
What is it like to live and study in Sweden?
"To live and study in Sweden is very similar to how it is in Norway, but there are some differences. Sweden has a 'lagom' mentality, which I have learned to like. Additionally, I enjoy living in Helsingborg where you can take walks by the ocean and go to the beach in the summer. I think it is beneficial that this programme is taught in this beautiful city! Furthermore, it is of course strange to see the different approaches Sweden is taking compared to Norway during Covid-19, but it is important to take things one day at a time and enjoy the weather if it is nice. I also want to add that the student life is great in Helsingborg, I have a lot of fun!"
