Industrial Design student ambassador Elisabeth
Introducing Elisabeth
Hi! My name is Elisabeth and I am the student ambassador for the Master’s Programme in Industrial Design. If you have questions about the programme or student life in Lund, I’m happy to answer them! Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits – if you have any questions regarding this, the International Office can help you.
My experience so far
How did I come to Lund? In my Bachelor’s programme, I joined a Swedish language course where I not only studied the language, but also learned about the country and culture, and I really liked what I heard. As Scandinavia is also known for its design, I looked for Master’s programmes in Sweden. I applied and got admitted, and so I ended up in Lund.
After one year here, I can say that I experienced a lot! Before coming to Lund, there was the struggle with finding a place to live. While I was looking forward to moving to Sweden, at the same time there was also the uncertainty connected to moving to another country. When I arrived, I met a lot of people and started to learn how life and studies work here. The academic quarter, fika breaks and biking everywhere became parts of my everyday life. In the winter months, I realised how happy I can be to see the sun after days of rain and wind.
More specifically about the Industrial Design programme, I can say that we have had many interesting design projects so far – making glass products, designing their exhibition for the Furniture Fair in Stockholm, a project regarding service design, and some more. We, as Industrial Design students, have our own studios where each student has a workplace. We are a very international and open-minded group of students who not only study together but quickly became friends.
Before arriving in Sweden, I wish I’d known more tips related to finding a place to live. I would also have liked to know about Swish – a money payment app in Sweden – and that it’s uncommon to pay with cash here, as well as a little bit more about what to expect in my programme.
