Voices from organisations supporting the MSc Programme in Production and Materials Engineering
"The need for well-trained production engineers is great all over the world. It is important that the students both gain knowledge of specific manufacturing methods and learn to understand the complexity of composite manufacturing systems from a holistic perspective. We have good experience of long-term cooperation with several departments at LTH, Lund University, and we are confident that the interested departments and research groups can extend their current educational programmes to international students [...] we give our support to the proposed International Master's programme in Production Engineering."
"We enthusiastically support the international Master's programme in Production and Materials Engineering at LTH. After taking part in the outlining of the educational programme, we are convinced that the research groups behind it have the qualifications needed to create a highly demanded programme that is internationally leading in the field.
We have very good experience of long-term cooperation with LTH, Lund University. Alfa Laval has employed a large number of production-oriented engineers who graduated from LTH and offers several thesis opportunities to students at Lund University every year, with successful results. We have participated and supported research in production at the University through numerous major research projects in the past decades. Together with research representatives in Lund, we have also developed the concept of industrial doctoral students for the first time."
"We are convinced that the qualified teachers and researchers at Lund University are highly competent at developing and running a Master's degree programme that complements the civil engineering education at a high international level. We have a long and very good experience of cooperation with LTH and Lund University in this area. This collaboration has been ongoing for more than 25 years. Every year, we have had fruitful collaborations on degree projects that often led to employment here in Svedala. We have also conducted a joint research project together with a research group in Lund, and two other collaboration projects that are currently running include a cost analysis for mineral processing conducted by an industry-employed doctoral student, and a collaboration that deals with the optimisation of manganese steels and tools for cutting machining. In the latter project, we will also have the chance to start a collaboration with MAX IV. We also expect to be able to involve students in this project in the form of thesis work."
"We have good experience of long-term cooperation with Lund University, both in the field of education and research. Over the past 15 years, we have noticed that Lund University has had a significant influence on our products and our basic skills in the field of cutting machining. We believe that Lund University is perfectly able to offer and further develop a master's programme that can become an absolute leader in Europe. For these reasons, we strongly support the proposal of a programme in the field of production technology."
"There is no doubt that LTH and Lund University can develop and run an internationally leading master’s programme in Production and Material Engineering. We therefore fully support the establishment of an education programme in the field of production engineering, both in terms of the general need for the proposed training and the available resources in the form of teachers and researchers active in the field at the concerned institutions."
