Description

Available HIV treatments are unsatisfactory since they don’t clear the infection and result in expensive and life‐long treatment on an every‐day basis without clear evidence of the long‐term consequences and side effects of this. Our research is highly translational and combines clinical, experimental and bioinformatics research in various systems virology approaches to uncover nocel key virus-host mechanisms that dictate the pathogenesis of HIV. A large proportion of our research have strong links to Africa, which is natural considering that almost 70% of the world’s 37 million HIV infected individuals live on this continent.
