Oraciones irreales con subjuntivo y sus correspondientes en sueco - una investición comparativa
Author
Summary, in English
This thesis has presented four cases of hypothetical sentences using subjunctive in Spanish and their Swedish counterpart. The investigated sentences were the three subordinate clauses: consecutive, comparative and conditional as well as the principal clause that is combined with a subordinate conditional clause with si. The objective of this thesis was to investigate how hypothetical sentences using subjunctive in Spanish are translated to Swedish. The hypothesis was that the subjunctive in the selected clauses in Spanish corresponds to a limited number of grammatical constructions in Swedish. This investigation was realized with an study subjunctive in Spanish grammar text books as well as a study of options for expressing doubt or that a message is hypothetical in Swedish grammar text books. After that an empirical investigation of La ciudad y los perros by Mario Vargas Llosa and the Swedish translation was performed. The conclusion from the empirical investigation was that the use of subjunctive in the types of hypothetical clauses investigated in this thesis was corresponding to three types of grammatical constructions to express that the message in the sentence is hypothetical.
