Politisk debatt om EMU-valet år 2003 : En analys kring politisk debatt inför folkomröstningen år 2003 och dess argument för- och emot ett inträde i EMU
Author
Summary, in English
In September 2003, a popular vote was held in Sweden with the question whether Sweden should or should not enter the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the debate with articles retrieved from a specific period, which was published within two weeks before the popular vote. The articles are retrieved from the Swedish newspaper ‘Svenska dagbladet’. To analyse the debate, dividing up the comments by proponents of the different political groups and parties would bring forward their argumentations of the various political position provided by voting or not voting in order to enter the EMU. The analysis will be based on Ruth Wodak’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and rhetorical elements from an Argumentation Analysis are adopted. These approaches will analyse the debate in order of its contrasts but also the debates coherent and commons. Through these contrasts and coherencies, rhetorical elements will analyse the chosen articles within their political comments if these are regarded as pathos, ethos or logos. From these elements a node and chain of equivalence are revealed.
