What Manish says about the Master's in Food Technology and Nutrition

Manish from India
What was the Master's programme in Food Technology and Nutrition like?
"It was really great, not only because of the good professors but also due to the friendly and international environment that made my life easy. I learned a lot because of the different teaching methods, including organising seminars and what it is like to have the freedom to do practical work in the laboratory without any restrictions. I also got the opportunity to improve myself in subjects I was not that good at, which really helped me. The programme is very flexible, which gives you a lot of freedom to learn. One of the most important benefits for me has been that I gained a lot of confidence during my studies."
How did the job hunt after graduation turn out for you?
"When I was doing my degree project, I felt sure that I would find a good position. I noticed that most employers were very positive when they saw in my CV that I was a student at Lund University. I saw the advertisement for my current job on the display board of the Food Technology department and I applied. After some interviews, I got the position. Job advertisements are regularly put on that board, which is really helpful for students who are looking for a position. I should also mention that the job fairs organised by the Student Union every year are very important. They give you a lot of contacts with companies and institutions that you can approach for your degree project or jobs. That is how I got to do my degree project with the company Lantmännen."
What are you doing now?
"I am working in the same field in which I did my degree project – bakery science. My job feels like a practical application of the knowledge I gained from my Master’s programme. I still miss Lund – what an amazing city for students!"
